MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A new lawsuit accuses the city of Minneapolis of discrimination by lax housing code enforcement, especially for rental properties in a part of the city with high populations of people of color.The lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of eight current and former residents of the city’s north side, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. It seeks to force the city to assign more housing code inspectors to north Minneapolis, where residents have for years complained of landlords who allow properties to fall into disrepair, but face few consequences. No financial settlement is being sought.“Despite the issues with predatory landlords in north Minneapolis being widely known, the City of Minneapolis has consistently failed to take action,” the suit said.Plaintiffs include tenants alleging a failure to crack down on landlords despite reports of lead paint, leaks, electrical problems and mold. CHICAGO — Illinois has taken the title of fifth "Swiftiest' state in the country, according to a new study.A company called Betway Insider analyzed hundreds of Google searches from the past year to determine which state is the most obsessed with Taylor Swift.Illinois took the fifth spot Illinois with 3,685,200 yearly searches and 19,005 searches per capita.New York came in fourth place with 5,495,520 yearly searches, translating to 26,004 searches per capita; Virginia was third with 2,028,240 yearly searches, averaging 31,345 searches per capita; Ohio took the second spot with 3,021,240 yearly searches and 38,771 searches per capita.And coming in first place with 5,502,720 yearly searches about Taylor Swift — Florida. ST. LOUIS - A man accused of stealing four bicycles from the Washington University campus is behind bars, and a discarded backpack held evidence that led to his arrest. St. Louis County prosecutors have charged Jay Ryan Hershkowitz, 45, with three felony counts of felony stealing and one misdemeanor count of stealing in connection with the thefts. Local cops unmask international suspects’ clever crime tricks Investigators say Hershkowitz sold four bicycles worth hundreds of dollars earlier this year between Sept. 8 and Sept. 14. One bicycle was valued at $2,000. Three were valued at more than $750, enough for a felony charge in Missouri. After the thefts, someone turned in a discarded backpack to the WashU recreation center.
